Spanish CV format: how to write a CV for jobs in Spain
If you are applying for jobs in Spain, a few conventions will make your CV look local. Here is the structure and an example.
In short: A Spanish CV («currículum») is one or two pages with contact details, a short professional profile, work experience in reverse chronological order with achievements, education, skills and languages with CEFR level. A photo is optional; ID number, age and marital status are not needed.
Structure
- Contact details: name, phone (+34), email, city, LinkedIn.
- Perfil profesional (2-3 lines).
- Experiencia profesional (reverse chronological).
- Formación (education).
- Habilidades (skills) and Idiomas (languages, CEFR).
What to include and what to omit
- Optional: photo.
- Omit: DNI/NIE number, age, marital status, salary history.
- Include: work authorisation if you are not an EU citizen (briefly).

Use the language of the job ad. Many international companies in Spain accept English CVs; local companies usually expect Spanish.

Explaining foreign qualifications
Spanish recruiters may not know your degree. Add a short equivalence: «BSc in Business (UK) — equivalent to Grado en ADE». If you need official recognition (homologación) for regulated professions, check the Spanish Ministry of Universities.
